A team of fifth-graders from Blackwell Elementary School won first place in the masters division of the Math is Cool competition May 16.
The team of Aaditya Prasad, Austin Womack, Ayana Bharadwaj and Andrea Wu is led casino spiele by parent volunteer coaches Vijay Bharadwaj, Andy Wu and Jianbo Peng.
The Blackwell team was one of 12 squads, representing five regions — Spokane, Seattle, Wenatchee, Richland and Vancouver.
Blackwell had to place in the top five at the Seattle regionals against 39 other teams to be invited to the state finals. Blackwell took fifth.
The team presented the first-place plaque June 1 to Principal Jim Eaton.
